Duble E Takes over the Podcast!

September 20th, 2009

splash

So this week, I (Ed Eldridge aka duble e), have taken over the Digital Mixdown Headquaters and am bringing you the podcast live and direct (at time of recording) from the esteemed Dank Chamber. I have been at the receiving end of some seriously heavy dubs of late and have been blown away by some of the local guys and their skills. There’s a few exclusives in there and some old and new things you may know. But I just wanted to put together something with some Australian talent and some new things that have come my way. This summer is shaping up to be a very exciting one, with some massive tours rolling through. Look out for 2562 on the 17th Oct at Club 320, and Loefah, Coki, and Excision all on one bill, brought to you by the massive Dank Morass crew. Big up boys.
So I hope you enjoy it, I will be stepping in to help out with the Digital Mixdown, as it moves into a new era.
Watch This Space.
Summer is on its way. Peas.

DigitalMixdown Podcast Featuring Boot

September 6th, 2009

This week we have none other than Sydney’s Boot guest selecting and showcasing his bag of awesome tunes. He is blowing up as a producer and killing it as a dj so we are very proud to have him on, catch him next weekend at Void in Sydney or on myspace.com/bootaudio.
Boot juggles a busy life as a producer/anarcist/dad/partner/call centre employee. He writes funked out dancefloor cyber groovestep with a deeper edge, focusing his beats mainly on politics and social turmoil, with a little bit of sci fi thrown in for good measure (Demilitarise space, now!).
For his DJ sets, Boot teams up with fellow ubercybergroove producer Sook, and together they form The Abyss, a being not unlike Voltron, or alternatively Robtimus Downey Jr, for ultimate dancefloor viscosity.

DigitalMixdown Podcast White Rhino & Scuba Tank Edition

August 31st, 2009

splash

This week heralds a White Rhino Rave and Scuba Tanks new venue so to celebrate I got Arku in to deliver a smashingly good live mix + You’ll hear a little of what I’m gonna be spinning at Scuba Tank, which is Arku of White Rhino and Walrii of Dank Morass’s beat driven baby.

The White Rhino Rave is in an all new venue with no restrictions of noise, dress and BYO drinks. Check out the flyer on myspace.com/whiterhinolife.

If Jesus were alive today he would be raving his tits off at the next White Rhino. It’s a pity he prematured his resurrection about 2191 years too early, but that’s what happens when you surround yourself with deadshits who just follow you without thinking. Luckily we don’t, and the Rhino has resurrected itself from its earthly Sub-Saharan tomb and is heading straight to the fucking rave covered in bass dirt and techno worms. After a short hiatus from the scene in order to re orient our direction, we have found a new venue to house the party and celebrate the second coming of the voodoo frequency creation in a far less controlled environment (BYO BOOZE/No dress code!!) set amongst a dizzying onslaught of visual projections, installations, cosmic lighting rigs, and a bowel tremorring sub sonic sound system streaming out laser bass lines, photon beats and acidic warehouse vibes.

At the controls for this journey through the end game, is a legion of international and local producers, musicians, Dj’s and MC’s Featuring;
Innasekt (UK/Rottun Records)
Samedi Soundsystem (live)
Elroy 4.0 (Live)
Delstar
Duble e (UK)
Mojie
Arku
Lone Pariah
Hosted by the 4 faced, 6 armed rasta man via Jamaica, MC Sunnydread and expat British Junglist and bass brain with the quickest draw, Duble E.

Get your face on, this shit is as serious as the pope on crack.

$15 cover charge. BYO Booze. TOPFLOOR, 99 Elizabeth St. Starts 8pm
It’s at the top of the stairwell next to Elizabeth Arcade in the City. Get there early as it is a limited capacity venue and most importantly make sure you over cater on the potion/poison as you don’t want to be leaving this if you run out. Fridges/Eskies provided.

There will be no holding back at this one!!! Bring your helmet..

DigitalMixdown Podcast Feat. Duble E

August 19th, 2009

splash

This week we get down to business with the fine British export Duble E and his step to it Return of the General mix. I have here a little communique from the man himself and it reads like this-

“Hope you enjoy the mix. Its a little rough round the edges but some deep soulful bass heavy stepping going on in my wax at the moment.
I haven’t done a tracklisting as I am a bit unsure about them, rather people hit me up if they like the tunes and I’ll be happy to tell you. Just a bit of a digger and think that records and mixing should be about discovering and learning for yourself, be it on vinyl or digital, I like to find things out for myself….. Ez. Enjoy
dUbLe. E”

Sounds like a pretty good philosophy, I hate writing up tracklistings! So hit him up for track info at
http://www.myspace.com/truedublee

Also from now on the podcasts will be broadcast on Sunday nights so you can liven up the end of your weekend or boring Monday morning.

1. Nero – Bad Trip
2. Eskimo – Agnus Dei
3. Noah D – Witchdoctor
4. Kotchy – One for the Money (Starkey Remix)
